Recipes for children: Crunchy oats – a healthy breakfast
Ingredients for 10 servings:
50 to 150 grams raisins (you can omit or substitute 50g banana chips if you prefer)
200 g wholemeal Oatmeal
50 g each of wheat germ, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes and coarsely grated hazelnuts or almonds
2 pinches each of cinnamon and ground vanilla
3 tablespoons (tbsp) oil
2 to 3 tbsp honey
Preparation:
Wash the raisins, mix well the rest of the ingredients except honey and oil. Heat the oil and honey in a large pan and toast the flake mixture for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add raisins and roast for a further 5 minutes. Allow the muesli mixture to cool, fill into a tight-fitting glass and refrigerate. This keeps the crunchy muesli fresh for about a week. Serve the muesli with fresh, chopped fruit and milk or yoghurt.
Breakfast idea: Recipe for delicious raisin rolls
Ingredients for 12 to 15 rolls:
1 pack of yeast
200 ml lukewarm vegan milk
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon sugar (to “feed” the yeast)
500 g finely ground wholemeal flour
100 grams of butter
100 to 150 g raisins
Preparation:
Wash the raisins and let them soak in hot water for 10 minutes. Dissolve yeast in warm milk, add salt and sugar. Fold in the flour and knead with butter to form a smooth dough. Using the dough hook on the mixer, knead vigorously for several minutes until the dough pulls away from the edge of the bowl. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. In the meantime, drain the raisins well, line a baking tray with baking paper and preheat the oven to 340 F. Knead the dough again briefly and work in the raisins. Form a roll out of the dough and divide it into 12 to 15 pieces of equal size. Form a ball out of each piece, place on the baking sheet and score each piece in the shape of a cross.
